Confession: I love white butterflies much more than colourful ones. But butterflies aren't where these images originated. These images started with a dress. This dress. A wonderful Rosie Red creation owned by Nadine, who was wonderful enough to bring it along to our day in the forest. We shot two images ideas with this dress, one led by me (this one) and one led by Sparrow which you will see soon.
I was originally going to shoot an idea I have a name for but no concrete images. It was going to be called 'Down among the crimson bloom' and use red flowers or leaves or some kind of foliage. But then I thought about it, really thought about it and that idea would never work with a red dress... white butterflies, however.
We shot this in, probably, less than 10 minutes. In fact, Sparrow spent more time on the hair and makeup than we did on the shooting (she is a trooper, and we didn't waste it, we used the same hair, sort of, and makeup for the other idea using this dress). Wonderfully, I knew exactly what I wanted. (Even if one of the ideas didn't work out in post.)
